How to configure Microsoft Outlook 2013 to access your Zimbra Mailbox using IMAP
- When you first open Outlook it should prompt you to set up an account. If it does not, click on the File tab > Info > Add Account.
- Select Yes for the question: Do you want to set up Outlook to connect to an email account?
- Click on Next.
- Select Manual setup or additional server types and click on Next.
- Select POP or IMAP and click on Next.
- Enter your account information:
- Your name: enter your name as it will appear on outgoing mail
- E-mail address: enter your IAS email address (username@456.edu)
- Account type: select IMAP
- Incoming mail server: enter mail.itg.ias.edu
- Outgoing mail server: enter smtpauth.ias.edu
- User Name: enter your IAS username
- Password: enter your IAS password
- Remember password: if you don't want to type in your password whenever Outlook opens, check this box.
- When everything is filled out, click on More Settings...
- Under the Outgoing Server tab, select My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
- If not already selected, select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
- Under the Advanced tab:
- In the Incoming Server area, choose SSL for the type of encrypted connection, and change the port number to 993.
- In the Outgoing Server area, choose TLS for the type of encrypted connection, and change the port number to 587.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
